The Legacy of Mary Magdalene Lives on in the South of France

Together, We Live the True Fairytale

So much more than one woman — a lineage of men and women who walked the way of love through time.

Enchanted, Rapturous, Spiritual Truth sings remembrance to our Hearts from wild waters and mystic caves. From ashes of bones that still speak, those who died for the Truth of the Lineage of Love strengthened it for those with eyes to see and ears to hear.

A living scripture that can never be captured with the written word — for it lives in the light dancing upon water.

So come and drink from the wellsprings that never run dry. Come laugh, cry, sing, dance and remember that you are a “light of the world”.

Romantic, Rapturous, Real and Rooted.
A time for deep spiritual practice and living the beauty way in sisterhood.

This journey is designed to be nourishing and magical. For us to let our souls rest in the solace of true sanctuary. Staying in a gorgeous pink castle, eating the most exquisite food, remembering the truth that our bodies are designed as living temples to experience the beauty of God’s creation. This is a break from the normal day to day world, and an invitation to step into the living fairytale dimensions of consciousness. However, this is not a surface level experience. It is not a “retreat”. It is a pilgrimage. A pilgrimage is walked to access experiences and states of being that one could not have at home. By connecting with different powerful places upon the Earth, we allow our bodies, which are made of Mother Earth, to be transformed. Our souls awaken and our light can shine even brighter, illuminating our highest destiny path.

I have been going on pilgrimage to the Magdalene sites in the south of France for eight years now and it has completely changed my life. I would not be who I am today if it weren’t for my initiations in these incredible places.

Calling in Mermaids of the Magdalene to let the seeds of love planted in the soil long ago bloom within our cells.

Our focus will be journeying to sacred caves, churches on powerful dragon ley lines, and bodies of water to make offerings and receive whatever we are ordained to. The mission is Union with the Beloved within and in sisterhood, to anchor heaven on earth dimensions for the stabilization of the Christos–Sophia song in our bodies and Gaia. Each day we will have a plan, but also be open to the present plan of the moment as She moves through us. We will ask to be guided, and we will listen, so the highest destiny of our time together can bloom. We will embrace heaven on earth together through meeting each moment in the ecstatic fullness of what is True.

If blessed by Her, we will allow the dragon mother’s energy to weave and illuminate the grid lines of our bodies and the key ley lines of the earth. Letting the seeds of love planted by the Cathars’ great offering bloom in our wombs.

“Initiation is not a degree of knowledge, but a state.” A state of being.
Louis Charpentier

I call this a Pilgrimage for a reason. It is not a gentle vacation or about checking Magdalene sites off a list. It is not only rose petals and divine oils. It is whatever the moment calls for us to meet.

It is to more deeply understand what it means to embrace Magdalene not as a human in the past, but as a living stream of gnosis within our own hearts.

It is for those who are available to be catalyzed in the cathartic seeds of cathar love that are ready to bloom in ready wombs. It’s for those who want to go beyond the “self” to marry the beloved within.

It is for the Daughters of the Dragon and the Dove.

This is an invitation to embrace the mythic dimensions of reality. To live the continuation of the miraculous story of the book of love. Together. In sisterhood. Devoted to the heartbeat of the holy grail within. For the resurrection of Heaven on Earth.

This is for women who desire to be in a roundtable council of equality where each woman is honored for the unique gifts and embodiments of her soul. You will be asked to be fully responsible for yourself and the thoughts and emotions you bring to the sacred circle, knowing that they impact the waters of our bodies and group field.

May the Blue Rose Bloom in the Waters of our Wombs — awakening sleeping beauty and kissing the beast to marry the treasure that can never be bought or sold.

The Lineage

Divine Mother, Water Goddess of Love in Her Many Forms

Mary Magdalene is documented as the apostle of the apostles in the gnostic gospels, who received the highest level initiations, a high priestess and royal queen of the serpentine anointing mysteries of the Mother Goddess. She did not walk alone, but with many incredible, miraculous women by her side, each playing their perfect role in the great story. Just as YOU have a unique role to play in the story of our great remembering.

After the crucifixion, she traveled to Gaul, the south of France, and evangelized with her heart of love. A place with many Jewish communities as well as temples to the Goddess; from Isis to Diana, Minerva and Aphrodite. It was a place that honored the primordial Mother Goddess, a natural land for her teachings to flourish.

Magdalene’s legacy lived on and grew: equality of women, women inheriting property, women becoming priestesses, believing in reincarnation, teaching a legacy of love.

Her lineage of blood and spirit flourished, becoming a certain kind of Catharism. The Cathars, “the pure ones”, were named such by others; they called themselves the bon hommes, the good people.

In the 1209, the catholic church officially launched a crusade against the Cathars, who were considered a threat to the pope’s rule. As they were teaching many things that directly opposed that of the Catholic Church such as a belief in reincarnation, that women could be priestesses and equals to men, and most dangerously, the Consolamentum. A sacred rite passed directly from Yeshua and Mary Magdalene to the Cathars which involved a laying on of hands and baptism of fire from the Holy Spirit.

In addition to this, the good men and women lived in the Languedoc, which was separate from France, and the king of France wanted their land and wealth. So the pope’s desire to eliminate this “heresy” was supported by the king, and over 200,000 people were killed in what is known as the Albigensian Crusade, mostly in the south of France and northern Italy. The largest mass killing of Christians against Christians ever recorded. Their teachings of love were such a threat to the catholic church that they were hunted and burned en masse.

The first mass murder of their people, in the town of Béziers, was on July 22nd, Magdalene’s feast day. Then a year later, the next massacre, in Minerve, also fell on her feast day. In Béziers it is documented that the Cathars believed Magdalene was married to Yeshua.

What is so remarkable is that the high initiates of the Cathars chose to die rather than give up their beliefs. They knew death wasn’t the end, the body a temporary house of the soul, and that there is nothing more important than truth.

Guilhem Bélibaste, the last known Cathar parfait to be caught and burned alive, shared a prophecy in 1321: that in 700 years the laurel would turn green again, meaning that the way of the Cathars and the teachings of love would return.

Now we are in the time of the fulfillment of the prophecy.

We can learn much about the original teachings of Christ and Magdalene by diving into the mysteries of Occitania, a way of love that includes and exalts the feminine, and the union of man and woman as sacred.

Much of what you find about the Cathars was written and propagated by the same people that persecuted them, as almost all of their original sacred documents were either destroyed or hidden. However, there are a few genuine documents that made it through, which we can learn much from. But I believe it is through our communion with the land and the waters that we can most clearly remember the living scripture of the shining realms that the Cathars and Magdalene anchored, bridging heaven and earth within our bodies.

Light of the World

Esclarmonde

In the middle of the 12th century, a grail princess descended from Mary Magdalene was born in a fairytale castle. She would grow up to become a high priestess and initiate who also founded schools and hospitals. A woman who teaches us of the true way of the shining path of the feminine Christ. Esclarmonde, whose name means light of the world.

In 2021, I had a dream that changed my life, where I was told to connect with the spirit of Esclarmonde. At that point I’d only heard of her briefly, and knew that she was a Cathar leader. Over the past four years she has been my guide as I have remembered the magnitude of what was anchored in her lands. It is a treasure beyond treasures. She told me that she wants to be named as a main guide for this pilgrimage.

Of course, we are connecting with Magdalene — but deeper than that, we are connecting to the lineage to which Magdalene belonged. We don’t have documentable exact proof of where Magdalene lived and taught. We have educated guesses, legends, channelings, paintings and some records. We will go to where I believe she lived. But we know so much more historic fact about Esclarmonde’s life. She is a halfway bridge point in time between Magdalene and our generation. We will journey to many places she cherished.

The Journey

Overview

My intention is for us to partake in all the experiences shared below. However, because this is a pilgrimage and we are opening up to be available for the highest plan that can’t be planned for, we may not be able to get to every experience listed. Also, we must always have permission from the land to enter the sacred sites. Most of the time we receive a yes, but on rare occasions we do not — this has only happened to me twice in nine years of teaching. Therefore, we are flexible and trusting in the flow of the present moment.

The lake and grounds of the chateau in Occitania

The southwest of France is absolutely enchanting, gorgeous and romantic. The land is rich and soaked in a lineage of love from Mary Magdalene and the Cathars. The land looks similar to Tuscany, with rolling green and golden hills, yet there are also gorgeous dramatic mountains. It is a terrain that is abundant in natural beauty and sacred water sites. Endless churches and castles.

As a little girl, I wanted to go to France more than anywhere in the world. It called my heart and beckoned me. The first time I went, eight years ago, was life changing for me. Then, in 2021, I had a powerful dream telling me to travel to a specific place in France I’d never heard of and connect with the spirit of a Cathar priestess. I traveled there in 2022 for a self-guided Cathar and Mary Magdalene pilgrimage and finally found the places in France that I’d been waiting to discover since I was a child. I walked those lands and felt them not only in my blood as ancestry, but in my spirit. Finally remembering the fragrance of wet candle-lit caves, wild blooming rosemary, and golden love. I discovered places without proper directions, off the tourist trail, that are some of my favorite places ever.

Nine Nights in a Fairytale

The Castle

The most magical pink castle awaits us. Originally built upon much older structures dating from the time of the Cathars, the current design was built in the late 1800s in the troubadour style, and recently completely restored and renovated in 2021 — an ancient gem with a modern, clean interior. We have the blessing of staying in a glorious castle with all modern conveniences, wonderful energy, and an incredible staff.

The chateau and surrounding buildings for additional accommodation rest upon over 37 acres. It is an exquisite English-style park of romantic inspiration, with species from all over the world: a private chapel grotto, Egyptian obelisk, lake, five man-made grottos, columns, bees and a rose garden. There are exquisite trees, including a cypress tree from Bhutan, cedars from Lebanon and the Himalaya, and over fifty different oaks.

Many layers of history and mystery live here that you will learn more about during our stay. The wonderful owner will share the history of the place on our arrival evening.

Two separate buildings flank the castle that we will also use. One of them contains our temple room for indoor workshops. There are private rooms in the castle and shared apartments of various styles in the other buildings. Some accommodations also have their own kitchens and living rooms. Everyone has access to the castle living room, library, and dining room where we will have all of our meals.

Feasting in the Old Way

Food Nourishment

The chateau comes with an incredibly talented chef who uses ingredients from the castle’s garden and from producers within a distance of 50 km. There is a wine list that offers a wide selection of organic and natural wines. Eggs come from chickens kept at the house. Breakfast is homemade sourdough, croissants, eggs, cheese, yogurt, granola, jams and juice. Dinner is a three-course gourmet meal. Lunch will be eaten out, either as a picnic or at a local restaurant.

This is a feasting celebration retreat when it comes to food — a nourishment of our taste buds and bodies in a rich and ancient way. The theme of our nourishment for the week is organic and as local as possible. This is not a vegan or gluten-free retreat, but we can accommodate some dietary needs if notified in advance.

The dining room is gorgeous, with restored murals from the 1800s and a spectacular fireplace.

The Womb of the Mother

Ancient Cave Ceremonies

Caves are the womb of the mother. This area of France is overflowing with sacred caves and underground tunnels. Many were used as places of ceremony by the Cathars. Some are secret and off the tourist trail, and others well known. We will journey to two caves. One is said to be the most sacred to the Cathars, and connected to Venus. The other is one of the largest caves in Europe. This place is very special: we will have a private, many-hour walking tour and learn the fascinating history of the place before dropping into a singing activation in the huge cathedral room with incredible acoustics. A special surprise awaits.

In Almost Every Village

Magdalene Churches

Beautiful churches abound in almost every village! It is rare to enter a church that doesn’t have at least a statue, symbol, or stained glass window honoring Magdalene. On this pilgrimage we will go off the tourist trail to a church with the most exquisite Magdalene statue I’ve ever seen, as well as the most famous Magdalene church in the world at Rennes le Chateau.

Honoring the Water

Water Priestess Arts

On this journey, we honor the water deeply. You will experience many kinds of unique water experiences. There will be opening and closing water rituals, libations, ritual washing and water blessings for the land. We will be keeping a water altar for the duration of the retreat and visiting many sacred water sites.

Reborn in the Waters of Love

Baptism Ceremony

Baptism is ceremonial immersion into the essence of the divine mother — the water, who loves us unconditionally. It brings us under the surface, into the mysterious depth of the symbolic womb space where we can’t breathe the air, to be brought up again like a baby taking its first breath, reborn in the waters of love. Baptism unifies the physical purification of water with the spiritual purification of the soul through intention and ceremony. It is a symbolic rebirth in the womb of the divine mother’s waters of life. Purification is often a first step in any ceremonial process.

Baptism in the early church, and especially from the gnostic viewpoint, was much different than today. It was an initiatory rite of welcoming — but only the first stage, not the completion.

Christ immerses them in water to purify them and leads them to their fulfillment in his Name.
The Gospel of Philip, 89
The teacher performed all his works mysteriously: immersing us in water, anointing us with oil, making us capable of acts of grace. He freed us and brought us into the bridal chamber.
The Gospel of Philip, 68

I will share in-depth teachings on the history of baptism, including the four aspects of baptism in the early church, as well as pre-christian baptism.

We will have the great blessing of doing a group baptism ceremony at the river where some say Magdalene may have baptized people — though the story mainly comes from one woman’s claim. However, I believe Magdalene lived in this area and immersed in these waters. I will share more details in person.

Baptism by Fire

Anointing Ceremony

Christ’s very name — Christos in Greek — means “anointed one”. Yeshua is called the one who baptizes by fire, who anoints with christ light. Who anoints Christ? Mary Magdalene. Anointing is at the heart of Magdalene remembrance. The physical act of anointing with oil is a ritual symbolizing the deeper internal alchemy of baptism by fire.

I will share in depth in our online course about the mysteries of anointing. When we are in person, we will commune with high-quality precious essential oils in ceremony, to call forth the light of anointment.

To be anointed with oil is higher than being immersed in water. It is when we are anointed, not when we are immersed in water, that we become Christians. Christ was called the Messiah because of this: he is “the anointed one”.
The Gospel of Philip, 95

The Five Senses

Body Temple Tending

Body temple tending softens us into presence and love through the gateway of the five senses. The room becomes magnetic with heavenly love. We drop into the space of honoring the body as sacred. We focus on the meditative healing power of magnetic sensual energy, not sexual energy. This is also a very integrative practice to tend and honor the nervous system, calling forth the Venusian frequencies of the divine mother. My highest priority is creating a field of purity and safety. I used to call this ceremony a Sensorium, but I no longer do, as many now use that word for ceremonies that are very different from what I offer. This practice can be done fully clothed if desired.

A softly lit temple space dressed for ceremony

The Courts of Love

Troubadour Poetry & Song

I will bring my traveling harp to share music in various churches and sacred sites. We will learn some songs to sing together along the journey.

One evening after dinner, we will gather in the spirit of the Troubadours to learn about their tradition regarding the courts of love, and how it relates to Mary Magdalene.

Then we will each share either a poem or a song that you have written and prepared for this night. Ideally it will be about something to do with love, whether divine or personal, but it can also be about a topic you feel relates to our pilgrimage.

La Source

Spring Water

In France, the word for spring is source. I can’t think of a more perfect name than to call this water flowing from the womb of the earth what she is: living, pulsing, liquid source of us all. The mother. The womb. France, especially the Languedoc, is overflowing with spring water. It seems like every town has a sacred spring or well.

I will bring you to around four different springs revered for their healing and miraculous powers. We will not go to Lourdes, as it’s a long drive, incredibly touristy, and not a favorite of mine. But we will go to another miracle spring that features a white lady visitation and was almost made the “Lourdes” of France.

We will journey to the springs off the tourist trail to commune with the sacred waters, the white ladies, and make many offerings and prayers. By connecting to these miracle water springs, we connect with the depth of the womb of the earth.

Testimonials

The Mermaids of the Magdalene pilgrimage is the journey of a lifetime. Pure fairytale bliss. The love and devotion poured into every detail was truly exquisite — from the breathtaking portal hopping, the enchanting ceremonies, the dream retreat castle, and the most delicious food. Pure ecstasy. My heart was completely elated. The group and I jokingly renamed the retreat “bonjour rapture”, as Magdalena wanted her daughters in rapture — but it is also a reflection of the rapture that was felt on this journey from day one. The magic I experienced is beyond time and space, and I would honestly love to come back year after year. The incredible beauty of these lands, Dakota’s knowledge and wisdom around the teachings of the holy family, and the way she transmits them are truly a gift. This journey has really set the tone for the next chapter in my life and how I want to live, love, share my gifts and serve. The bonds I have created with the women on the retreat and what I have received on a soul level is beyond words. The Magdalene lives on because of women like Dakota and journeys like this. I will forever be grateful to her for this retreat. It has been an absolute dream come true.

The Mermaids of the Magdalene Pilgrimage was nothing short of miraculous. It was a soul-deep journey into the heart of the land and her stories, the Beloved, and our own belonging. If you feel called to the ancient magik, mystery and mythos of another way of loving… if you feel drawn to the life ways of the Cathars and their rites, rituals and roots… if you know, deep in your bones, that you are here to guide in the light of love, to anchor codes of the Great Mother, and to remember those that came before — this pilgrimage is truly created and held for you. It will restructure the timelines of your life in the most brilliant and beautiful way possible. It will stun you and bring you to your knees. And if you are anything like me, it will make sense of the sacred path you have always been walking. So much love and gratitude to Dakota for sharing her mature relationship with the sites, guides and stories of these lands, and for her tender, heart-led, strong leadership. If you find yourself here, know that it was written lifetimes ago!

The inspiration I have received from the Mermaids of the Magdalene Pilgrimage heals and fills my heart. It was food for my soul that I have been deeply craving and drawn to for a long time. The peace and grace Dakota held in our group was so healing and nurturing. We were gently guided, and deeply respected in our sovereignty. The five-month online pilgrimage beforehand was the perfect preparation, and Dakota is always so generous in everything she offers — her teachings hold so much intrigue, they are like doorways into activations and wisdom. The pilgrimage itself was incredible: a perfect blend of exploring and luxury. We stayed in a pink castle, with tapestries in the dining room, on beautiful grounds with incredible scenery. The places we visited included churches, castles, caves, ancient stone sites and more. Kundalini energy was present and circling, as was the presence of the Dragon Mother. The South of France is an incredible place, and I am so blessed to be introduced to it by the wisdom and guidance Dakota brings.

Enchanted forests give way to cool springs. Light dancing over the water in rhythm with the angels. Pearls offered to Her in ecstasy. Harps bring sweet messages of return. A dark cave beckons you into the Mother’s womb as the Dragon awakens. Sisters’ voices rise up in harmony as we dance upon the elemental mountain. Healing, weaving, becoming. Reawakening the frequency of the Cathars — the laurel. Mary Magdalene smiles upon us as we bring Heaven here to Earth with our rapturous beauty. This pilgrimage was a coming home to the root for me. The caves we sang in, the ancient stones we walked over, the springs we bathed in — all were guiding me back to The Truth. Through it all, beaming with radiance and a sacred knowing, is Dakota. She is at her nexus of genius in these lands. Even months later I can still feel the magic that was created under her guardianship. I am forever changed and eternally grateful to walk the path with her by my side.

The Mermaids of the Mother Pilgrimage in the South of France was a life-changing journey. It was a last-minute alignment for me to join, and Dakota welcomed me with such grace. A week before, I had no idea who the Cathars even were and had never felt called to France… but it was beyond clear that I was meant to be there. Flash forward a week later — I’m in France experiencing full-bodied, visceral remembrances of walking those lands. Dakota’s leadership, space holding, and wealth of information created such a profound container for deep mysticism and beauty. It was truly one of the most profound activations I’ve ever experienced. This pilgrimage returned a piece of my soul that I didn’t even know was missing. It fortified and amplified my relationship with Christ, Mother Mary, and Mary Magdalene, activated more of my soul gifts, and provided clarity on my own mission. I cannot recommend it enough.

When I first read about Dakota’s Magdalene pilgrimage in the South of France, I felt an immediate “YES” resonating in my body. I had seen many offerings and retreats, but nothing was fully calling to me. I’m so grateful I listened to my intuition and heeded the call — as soon as I said yes to the journey, I felt an expansive, transformational container begin to envelop me. Dakota is an incredibly humble yet powerful embodiment of the Divine Feminine, walking in deep integrity and alignment with the teachings of Magdalene and Christ. She is so deeply steeped in the living mystery, and well aware of intricate layers of history that most people don’t know of, through her extensive research and firsthand experiences on these ancient lands. Not only did we visit the most magical places and connect with local healers — we also stayed at an unbelievably enchanted true castle! If your heart is calling you, don’t hesitate to take the leap. It’s worth every moment!

Mermaids of the Magdalene was my very first initiation into water priestess arts, and it transformed me beyond anything I could have ever imagined or dreamed of. Dakota practices what she preaches and, more importantly, embodies every piece of wisdom she shares. She holds such a pure, innocent, powerful and clear frequency that is profoundly magnetic. This retreat not only changed me as a person — it helped me get clear on my own mission on this Earth, and it made me come home to myself in ways I could never have imagined. I felt safe in a way I have never experienced in my life. I felt held and supported, and I feel we unlocked the codes of what true sisterhood means. I will cherish all the experiences, ceremonies, activations, hugs, giggles and profoundly transformative rituals for the rest of my life. I recommend everyone give themselves the gift of learning from Dakota, and bathe in the profound primordial water wisdom she holds.

The pilgrimage was a deeply magical and sacred immersion in the holy energy of the south of France, of Mary Magdalene and her teachings, and into us as her — by connecting to our own holiness. It felt like this pilgrimage was a legacy of love Dakota had returned to and was now inviting others to return to too. Every moment of it was a dream. Dakota held a container of sisterhood, relaxation, ease, feminine energy, transformation, delight and peace. Her astute professional leadership was wonderful to witness — as a teacher and creator of retreats myself, I hold so much appreciation for her work. By the end of the week, I realized we had co-created heaven on earth, and it’s that simple to do. Each ceremony, sacred spring, and chapel Dakota brought us to was a transmission and reminder of this — a calling to step into creating heaven on earth now that we’d remembered we can. This was my most profound realization, and became my most profound transformation.
— Kim · USA
Journeying to the south of France with Dakota was an incredibly transformative experience. There is a certain magic about honoring all that radiates through Dakota — a true Magdalene in every sense of the word, a Water Priestess, embodying aspects of the Divine Feminine in ways that I have never before witnessed until I met her in France. It was nourishing on so many levels: through the historical and spiritual wisdom Dakota shared of the land, through the ceremony and rituals we collectively wove, and of course the delicious water we sourced from sacred springs. It surfaced so much within me — all of which I am looking forward to further exploring, transmuting, and developing. I come away with more inspiration and devotion to the waters that exist on this Earth and within us, and highly recommend journeying with Dakota to anyone who is called. In deep gratitude.

The Mermaids of the Magdalene retreat was a highlight of my year, and maybe even my life, to be honest! We had the most magical, divine, powerful and sweet week staying in a castle in the South of France, going to sacred wells and churches, and being in community with other beautiful sisters. Dakota’s transmissions are so pure and grounded in the Earth and herstory. The Christ, Magdalene, Cathar, and Water Priestess codes that she carries and shares are truly transformative. It was a sacred remembering of true community, mystic wisdom, and divine love. This retreat activated something deep within me, and I’m forever grateful to Dakota for this one-of-a-kind experience. Only she could create something so pure, so powerful, and so alive with magic! I feel deeply connected to my lineage, my path as a priestess, my prayers to become a wife and a mother, and the divine.
